Las Hermanas is the creation of the women from SOPPEXCCA cooperative. Designed to bring awareness to social justice and women's health issues, Las Hermanas was the first project dedicated to women in coffee. Las Hermanas brought schools, supplies and health clinics to Jinotega and furthermore a sense of advancement for the women who participate as growers and leaders in the cooperative.

Fatima Ismael, pictured above, is the general manager of the cooperative and a true leader among the women in the global specialty coffee industry. In the late 1990's she became the face of SOPPEXCCA and drove out corruption, repaired years of bad decisions by the former co-op leaders, and improved the overall coffee quality.

Sacred Grounds President and Green Coffee Buyer, Beth Dominick, met with this dynamic group of women in 2003 and has been trying to buy their coffee ever since. 184 women make up the Hermanas group and their lives and the lives of those around them have been improved by this project.

Our Full City version of this coffee is a medium roast and features classic notes of dark chocolate, vanilla and a creamy body.
